In the gentle hush that comes just before dawn—when most are still wrapped in dreams or prayer—something heartbreaking unfolded in a remote refugee camp in Somaliland.
It was moments before the Fajr prayer, the call that usually signals hope and new beginnings. But on this morning, tucked inside a rough carton box at the shadowy corner of a mosque, a tiny baby girl, only three days old, shivered against the biting desert wind. Her life had barely begun, yet it was already marked by pain.

In this region, a harsh reality hides behind daily struggles. The Horn of Africa is scarred by poverty, displacement, and broken families. Sometimes, overwhelmed by impossible choices, mothers—left desperate by divorce, poverty, or abuse—surrender their babies, hoping kind hands will save the little ones they cannot protect themselves.
It is a painful tradition—born not of cruelty, but of hopelessness.

And so, the baby girl was left alone… unseen.
🕌 A Lifesaving Moment
Hamza, an early riser heading to the mosque, heard a faint cry. Guided by faith and instinct, he traced the sound to the cardboard box. There, beneath a thin cloth, lay the newborn—her face streaked with sand and tears.
Without hesitation, Hamza lifted her, shielding her fragile body from the cold desert air. He rushed her home, where his wife gently wrapped the child in warmth, comfort, and hope.

Soon after, they reported the incident to the police station, ensuring her safety, story, and future would not be lost.

But the challenges are far from over. This infant—so quiet yet so resilient—now depends on the kindness of those who hear her story.
She urgently needs:
